ASAHI SUPER DRY

Challenge for Environment

At Asahi Breweries, we’re pouring effort into the development of new, environmentally-friendly ways of brewing by developing technology to reduce CO2 emissions during manufacturing, by purchasing green power, and by introducing solar energy generation facilities.

  • Introduction of Solar Energy Generation Facilities
  • Efforts Toward Zero Emissions
  • Approximately 30% reduction in CO2 emissions during brewing and boiling

What is the PIE Boiling Method?

It’s a new technology developed by Asahi Breweries, easy on the environment and a global first (*). (Begun at the Suita factory.) Up until now, the wort and hops were put into the kettle at the same time. However, by boiling them separately, it’s possible to brew beer using less thermal energy than in conventional processes. By reducing the energy used during brewing and boiling, we’ve succeeded in reducing the carbon dioxide produced in this process by about 30%. And it’s not just efficient. We’ve also managed to eliminate flavor-damaging fragrance elements, and to make the head last even longer. We’re contributing to taste as well. We’ve christened this the PIE (PreIsomeriser and Evaporator) boiling method, and are applying for a patent.
