The Asahi Group, which is globally expanding its business, considers highly transparent and reliable disclosure of information through the centralized summarization and third-party verification of environmental information and data from the Group overall including overseas to be essential. It undergoes third-party verification for greenhouse gas emission volume (Scope 1,2 and 3), which is considered particularly important and has acquired a written assurance.
In 2014 (January 1 - December 31, 2014) and in compliance with ISO 14064-1*, the Asahi Group underwent third-party verification of methods for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from the offices in Japan of the Group and the suitability of these calculation methods. As a result, the Group received written assurance from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA), the institution that conducted the verification.
In 2015, the range of eligibility was expanded to include Asahi Group companies in Oceania. It was expanded further in 2018 to include Group companies in Europe, and again in 2019 to include Group companies in Southeast Asia. Consequently, the Group underwent third-party verification and obtained written assurances for these companies.
In 2018, the Group also underwent third-party verification and received written assurances for Scopes 1 and 2 under the same range with regard to energy consumption, water consumption and wastewater discharge.
From 2015, the Asahi Group has followed the Basic Guidelines on Accounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Throughout the Supply Chain (published by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) to account for the greenhouse gases from its value chain under Scope 3. At the same time, the Group underwent third-party verification in compliance with ISO 14064-3 and received written assurance. The range of eligibility currently covers Asahi Breweries and Asahi Soft Drinks in Japan. Going forward, the Group plans to expand the range to include Group companies in Europe, Oceania and Southeast Asia.
