The Asahi Group, which is globally expanding its business, considers highly transparent and reliable disclosure of information through the centralized summarization and third-party verification of environmental information and data from the Group overall including overseas to be essential. It undergoes third-party verification for greenhouse gas emission volume (Scope 1,2 and 3), which is considered particularly important and has acquired a written assurance.
In 2014, (January 1 - December 31, 2014), third-party verification of calculation methods and the suitability of these calculation methods for the greenhouse gases emitted by domestic Asahi Group offices based on ISO 14064-1* was conducted. As a result, a written assurance was received from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited (LRQA), the verification institution. In 2015 (January 1 - December 31, 2015), the range of eligibility was expanded so that third-party verification was conducted for Group companies in the Oceania region as well, and written assurances were received for these too.
In 2016, the Asahi Group again received written assurances for Scopes 1 and 2 under the same range.
In addition, from 2016, the Basic Guidelines on Accounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Throughout the Supply Chain (published by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) are being used to account for greenhouse gas from its value chain under Scope 3. At the same time, third-party verification based on ISO 14064-3 was conducted, and the corresponding written assurance was received.
*ISO 14064: International standards for calculating, reporting on and verifying greenhouse gases. Composed of three parts.
|GHG emission volume||2014||2015||2016||2017|
|Scope 1||Scope 2||Scope 1||Scope 2||Scope 1||Scope 2||Scope 1||Scope 2|
Scope 1: Direct GHG emission volume
Scope 2: Indirect GHG emission volume from energy sources
With the aim of reducing greenhouse gases throughout its entire value chain going forward, the Asahi Group will calculate the Scope 3 greenhouse gas in its value chain based on the "Basic Guidelines on Accounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions throughout the Supply Chain (issued by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)." Furthermore, the Group has implemented third-party verification based on international ISO 14064-3 standards and has acquired a written assurance from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Limited, a verification service provider.
