The Asahi Group established the Group Research Laboratories for Food Safety Chemistry in the R&D Center to develop analytical technologies related to food safety. R&D covers a wide range of areas from microorganisms, agricultural chemicals, mycotoxins, heavy metals, and resins, as well as radioactive substances. The Laboratory technologically supports the Asahi Group's sophisticated safety assurance system both in Japan and overseas.
Scientific analysis of data for reliable quality assurance is crucial to the delivery of safe and secure products to customers. The Group Research Laboratories for Food Safety Chemistry implements quality assurance for Group products and raw materials by leveraging sophisticated technological capabilities and developing analytical technologies using various advanced devices, such as time-of-flight mass spectrometers (TOF-MS) and DNA sequencers.
We present our technologies at academic meetings in Japan and overseas to obtain the latest information pertaining to food safety and daily changes in global trends, and support the Asahi Group's initiatives toward realizing the highest levels of quality in the world.
The Asahi Group has established guidelines demonstrating our attitude with regards to food defense response at food plants, and is working to construct a continuous management system based on multilateral risk analysis from management, service and infrastructure viewpoints.
Food defense activities, which include creating relationships of trust with employees (communication, education etc.), managing plant entry, managing access to manufacturing sites, restricting the bringing in of items to manufacturing sites and chemical management, are being promoted and incorporated into various countermeasures from both service and infrastructure facets to give our customers peace of mind.
The Asahi Group is committed to ongoing quality improvement through certification under quality assurance standards such as ISO9001, HACCP and Comprehensive Sanitation Management and Production Process in Japan as well as international food safety management system accreditation schemes such as FSSC22000 and ISO22000.
