Promoting Diversity as a Company Engendering Glocal Values

We are rapidly expanding our growth foundations worldwide with initiatives such as aggressive M&A and business portfolio restructuring. As a result, the weighting of overseas operations in our net sales and operating profits is increasing. More than half of Asahi Group employees work overseas today.

In 2019, we established the new “Asahi Group Philosophy” to share with Group employees worldwide a direction for combining strategies and strengths, sustain our growth and enhance our value over the medium and long terms, taking into consideration the new growth stage the Group has reached overall.

In the Asahi Group Philosophy, we have adopted “deliver on our great taste promise and bring more fun to life” as our mission and “be a value creator globally and locally, growing with high value-added brands” as our vision. We believe that maximizing the abilities individual employees display, irrespective of their nationality, gender, age and disability, and diverse ways of thinking, which produce new value through the merger of their abilities, is indispensable to achieving our mission and vision.

Based on that view, the Asahi Group positions diversity as part of its management strategies. The Group will continue to enhance its value, developing glocal values through challenges and innovations based on diversity and proactively advancing efforts to establish systems and conditions that enable employees in diverse conditions to achieve high levels of satisfaction and productivity.

Management System

To strengthen the promotion of diversity, the Asahi Group has established a Diversity Promotion Group in the Human Resources Section of Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. and has appointed diversity promotion managers in major domestic Group companies. Through this management system, Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. communicates with Group companies on a regular basis. We thus make group-wide efforts to promote diversity initiatives.
With regard to overseas Group companies, we regularly hold the Global HR Meeting with human resources managers from the companies. We exchange information and have discussions with them about global leadership training, talent management, and other issues.
