Asahi Group Recognized with Prestigious Double "A" Score for Climate Change and Water Security by Global Environmental Non-profit CDP
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd.
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President and Representative Director, CEO Atsushi KATSUKI) announces it has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP*, securing a place on its prestigious “A List” for tackling climate change, as well as acting to protect water security by CDP.
One of our principles under the Asahi Group Philosophy is to “contribute to a sustainable society through our business.” Also, under the Asahi Group Environmental Vision 2050, with the aim of contributing to a sustainable society, we strive to achieve zero environmental impact in its business activities (Neutral) by 2050 and endeavor to create new environmental value that leverages the Group’s proprietary technologies and knowledge (Plus).
Asahi Group recognizes this honorable achievement of the “Climate Change A List” is due to our initiatives for reducing CO2 emissions aiming to attain Asahi Carbon Zero targets for achieving zero CO2 emissions by 2050, such as utilization of green power, development of label-less products, demonstration testing for development of new clean energy models, and utilization of lightweight containers, as well as endorsing of the TCFD recommendations and quantitatively evaluating and disclosing the impact of climate change-related risks and opportunities on our businesses using scenario analysis methods.
We consider our efforts for protecting water resources resulted in the inclusion in the “Water Security A List.” Such efforts include further reducing water consumption at our factories and groundwater recharge especially in our privately owned FSC-certified Asahi Forest, which has been managed in a sustainable way.
As a corporate group that engages in business receiving gifts from nature, the Asahi Group will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions by reducing environmental impacts including water and raw materials. The Group also aims, through innovative initiatives, to create environmentally positive value and engage in business activities in such a way as to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
