Asahi Group Holdings Selected as a Constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series, a Leading ESG Investment Index, for the 20th Consecutive Year
Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd.
(Tokyo, Japan - February 3, 2022) - Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (the “Company”) announced that it has been selected as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series, a leading ESG investment index. This is as a result of a review of constituents in December 2021, and the Company has been included in the index for the 20th consecutive year since 2002.
In addition, the Company has continued to be selected as a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Index, an ESG investment index of the Government Pension Investment Fund (“GPIF”). GPIF selected four indices for Japanese equities (FTSE Blossom Japan Index, MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index, and S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index) as ESG indices when it started ESG investment, and the Company has been included in all of the four indices.
The FTSE4Good Index Series is a global ESG (E: Environmental, S: Social, and G: Governance) investment index created by FTSE Russell in the UK in 2001, which selects companies with outstanding ESG performance. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is an index selected by GPIF, which manages Japan's public pension funds, in 2017 when it started ESG investment, and is evaluated based on the ESG evaluation scheme of the FTSE4Good Japan Index.
With the aim of integrating sustainability in its management, the Asahi Group has been working on group-wide sustainability management by building a global promotion system and setting goals. The Company believes that these efforts have led to its continued inclusion in the indices, and will continue to aim to enhance its corporate value by promoting sustainability through its business.
