Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd.
(Tokyo, Japan - September 21, 2022) – Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. is pleased to announce that Asahi Europe & International, the regional headquarters in Asahi Group and in charge of Europe Business, has been awarded the Changemaker Award in the RE100 Leadership Awards 2022. The company has been recognized for its achievements in the field of renewable electricity, by sticking to its ambitious goals and making significant strides toward reaching its net zero targets.
RE100 is the global corporate energy initiative led by the international NGO Climate Group, and brings together more than 370 major companies committed to their operations being powered by 100% renewable electricity. Asahi Group has been a member of RE100 since 2020. The awards were announced at Climate Group’s annual Climate Week in New York which runs alongside the UN General Assembly on September 20.
Asahi Europe & International’s winning Changemaker Award entry video is here. One in every two beers brewed by Asahi Europe & International is now brewed using 100% renewable electricity. All of Asahi’s breweries in Poland, Romania, the Netherlands and Italy are now powered with 100% renewable electricity. And by 2025, all 19 of Asahi’s breweries in Europe are on track to reach this goal.
Paolo Lanzarotti, CEO of Asahi Europe & International, said, “Now more than ever, it is important for us to live up to our purpose of creating meaningful connections with people and the planet. We must collectively stay the course and continue our work towards transitioning to a low-carbon economy globally. Together, we can go further and faster.”
With the aim of integrating sustainability into its management, Asahi Group has been working on group-wide sustainability by building a global promotion structure and setting targets. The key initiatives on which to focus our management resources also include “respond to climate change” and we accelerate efforts toward achieving the Asahi Carbon Zero, a medium- to long-term goal of reducing CO2 emissions to zero across the whole of its vast supply chain by 2050. Working to invigorate our precious future, we have defined “Cheer the Future” as our promise to the world of tomorrow, and are working to contribute to a sustainable society through our business.
